THE MAGIC WITHIN
Do you remember how you believed in magic and wonderment with all your pure heart when you were a child?
What a wonderful feeling that was.
There was no doubt that there were magical beings, small spirits and great miracles. Magical things that made your life complete and whole and exciting.
Your whole imagination has been included when you brought your inner magic to life. Dolls came to life; sticks became horses; invisible magic powder and spells revealed their magic.
Did you have a magic wand? Do you remember that feeling of using it? Does it tingle inside you when you remember it?
You could be anything, a magician, a princess, a gipsy, an adventurer, a teacher, a shop assistant, a mouse, a fairy, anything.
Life felt beautiful, and you were entirely in tune with it.
THE SEPARATION from your beauty
What has happened since then?
What changed why you lost this inner magic, this inner enchantment?
Don't you miss that too? I do.
Why do we, as adults, have to leave this wonderful feeling behind, to find ourselves in life without any "frills", illusion or magic instead? How bleak it is now.
Is magic the same as an illusion?
Do you have to detach yourself from your inner magic simultaneously as you free yourself from illusion? Yes, it can be healthy and important and wisdom-giving to detach from illusions and wrong beliefs.
But it also hurts. It leaves you in despair and often with a feeling of being alone...
So what is wrong with keeping a little bit of inner magic alive? A feeling that anything is possible. Isn't this precisely what we call manifesting?
A stick doesn't turn into a pony. We don't have that power. But two things may happen: One is the imagination that this stick being a pony might bring you the joy of life that makes you happy. Or, you might trigger a "magical" process of manifestation gradually leading you to a real pony.
Fake it till you make it. Isn't that the belief in the desired miracle?
MAGIC IS YOUR INNER ESSENCE
What is so bad about believing in magic?
Isn't it comforting to rely on the existence of magic? An experience that softens you and opens you up instead of making you bitter.
Life pushed me towards disillusion. Almost every dream I tried to bring into life failed. And over time, I got more and more frustrated and disillusioned. But this didn't make me happier, nor did it give me the faith and self-confidence to start something new.
Instead, I ended up frustrated, cold-hearted and bitter because that's what might happen to you if you take away all the magic.
HUMAN MATURITY VERSUS MAGIC
Is complete disillusionment a desirable thing to find more human maturity, I wonder?
Please don't get me right. I don't want to escape or bypass reality, whatever it may be. I want to imagine it a little more magically. I don't want to live in a world that is only black and white, that only knows true and false.
I like to hold space for the impossible, for the magical and beautiful.
That doesn't mean I don't work for my goals and my big dream of a fulfilled life full of harmony and contentment. (Isn't that already a magical state?).
But through all rationality, determination, ambition, and diligence, I allow myself to keep some open space for what I cannot know exists.
Magic has returned in my reality - I have consciously taken it back. I have reintegrated magic into my life. Simply because it makes me happy. Seeing the magic and enchantment in the little things adds colour and abundance to my life. Trusting it being in the big things - my heart matters - takes away some of the burdens of doing everything myself. I do my part with everything I can, and then I trust that magic will come into play to do the rest.
DARE TO DREAM
I now invite you into the world of magic.
Remember the magic within you. What could you bring to life as a child? Could you fly? Remember and allow this feeling to spread through you. What does this to you? How do you feel?
Where could you allow more magic in your everyday life here and now?
What would that look like? What does this require from you? Yes, you have to do something - the stick between your legs didn't turn into a pony without your help. You have to bring in your whole imagination - your magic.
So what if changing your daily affirmations would really transform your life?
What if tarot cards would really give you advice and a message on your journey to your big dream?
What if synchronicities weren't incidents?
What if all the little details around you were there to enchant your life, but you didn't notice them or take them for granted?
What does not allowing yourself to look at the world through rose-coloured glasses serve you? Does that make you happy?
What does seeing problems and difficulties serve you?
Does that motivate you to tackle your dream and, with a bit of luck - magic - achieve it?
MAGIC IS YOUR BELIEF OF BEING ENOUGH
Allow the magic within you to take up a little more space again. This does not mean you become childish, naïve or lose your human maturity. It means you learn to trust that things you don't know and cannot know about are there nevertheless. Things that enable you to see your life as more worth living and more colourful.
From this perspective, you will eventually make the small changes that will bring about the significant difference. No matter if this is in your yoga practice or your life. Bring your imagination into it and allow what is not yet there to be or become.
I think that's what it means to live from love - to be your own kind of magic.
